Traders have raised concerns about the closure of the Aqina port, in Faryab province, by Junbesh-e-Mili party supporters who have held ongoing demonstrations in the northern provinces for the past two weeks. 

On Monday, traders said hundreds of trucks and oil tankers have been prevented from entering the country by the demonstrators who have closed off this key trade route between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. 

The protestors have however said they will not open the road until government meets their demands.
