The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said that contracts for nine marble mining projects were signed in Herat Province.

Acting Minister of Mines Nargis Nehan said that six other marble projects will be signed in Nangarhar, Ghazni and Maidan Wardak.

Marble industry owners said the extension of these contracts will provide the basis for development of marble processing firms.
