BAZAR: Embezzlement In Transport Ministry Discussed

Ministry of Transport officials on Saturday said 70 percent of the ministry’s revenue was being embezzled or wasted annually. 

Transport minister Hamidullah Tahmasi said in order to curb this loss, the ministry has taken steps the resolve the issue. So far, 60 employees from the ministry have been investigated and their cases handed over to the Attorney General’s Office (AGO).

According to Tahmasi, these people are suspected of having been involved in corruption and of pocketing ministry money.

Tahmasi said some directors of transport departments are among the staff suspected of corruption and embezzlement.
