BAZAR: Need For Drought Strategy Discussed
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that in order to deal with the effects of the current drought, a strategic plan needs to be drawn up.
The authority said that in addition to the drought having affected agriculture and livestock, the country's groundwater resources have also been impacted.
The National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) meanwhile said it warned seven years ago that the unnecessary use of groundwater would lead to problems but that no one paid attention to their warning.
In this episode host Zarmina Mohammadi discusses the topic with Samim Hoshmand environment affairs expert and Mohammad Siddiqi head of plan and policy for the NDMA.
