ACCI Concerned About Private Sector

The Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) said Friday that insecurity in the country is resulting in massive financial losses to the private sector.

Officials said that if not curbed, the increase in insecurity and kidnappings will result in a drop in investment in Afghanistan.

The ACCI deputy head Khan Jan Alkozai said that a number of investors have already pulled out of the country.

“When an explosion or suicide attack happens, the markets remain stagnant for several days. Apart from the fact that the private sector suffers financial losses in these incidents, kidnappings is also a big challenge for businessmen and investors in the country,” said Alkozai.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Internal Affairs says it has plans to solve problems the private sector is facing.

“At the moment, the Afghan government, particularly the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will provide any kind of services that the private sector wants. And we are trying to provide them with the necessary means to secure the lives of traders and investors,” said Najib Danish, a spokesman for the ministry of interior.

In addition, the Chamber of Commerce and Industries said that it has established a committee to help resolve problems businessmen and investors are facing.
