ENTIKHABAT 97: Election Campaigns Discussed
In the first part of the program host Karim Amini interviews Ahmad Zia Massoud on elections related issues. Massoud speaks out about the electoral process and calls for an interim government to be appointed in order to ensure transparency.
In the second part of the show, host Sadaf Amiri discusses the issue of campaign funding.
According to the Free & Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan (FEFA) some parliamentary candidates have spent more than $40,000 on their campaigns ahead of elections; but the IEC rejected the claims and said if parliamentary candidates refuse to comply with the law they will be prosecuted.
Based on the election law parliamentary candidates may not spend more than 2.3 million Afghanis (about $30,000).
