Maulana Sami ul Haq, the chairman of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan was recently killed at his residence in Rawalpindi city in Pakistan by unknown gunmen. 

His assassination comes amid concerted efforts by the US to accelerate peace talks in Afghanistan.
