Farid Hamidi, the Attorney General of Afghanistan, on Tuesday directed attorney general offices across the country to bring an end to the practice of arbitrary detentions. 

He said prosecutors should respect the status, dignity and freedom of citizens and avoid arbitrary detentions.

A team assigned by Ministry of Interior has held talks with tribal elders in Ghazni in a bid to convince protestors to reopen the Kabul-Kandahar Highway to traffic. 

Some Ghazni residents closed the Kabul-Kandahar Highway this week in protest over the killing of two people in Sher Abad village in Qarabagh district. The protestors claim the two people were killed by armed men.
