A mural of slain Hamida Barmaki, who was killed in a Hizb-e-Islami suicide bombing six years ago, was painted on a T-wall close to the home of the group’s leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar on Sunday.

The mural was painted by Kabul’s Artlords to mark International Women’s Day and to reflect crimes being carried out in the country.

Officials from Afghanistan’s Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Sunday said that the election management body would likely push back parliamentary and district councils’ elections to October.

This comes against growing frustration by Afghan politicians and parties who have continuously called on the Afghan government and the IEC to make sure elections are held as scheduled for July 7.
