Afghan Motorsport Takes To Streets Of Kabul

Afghan motorsport enthusiasts got a chance to show off their driving skills on Monday when ten drivers took part in an organized event in Kabul.

“We only race in the name of Afghanistan and to bring honor to bring honor to the country have started our races,” said Hashmat Rahbar, head of the Motorsport Federation.

One race car driver, Ahmad, said that “this is a new sporting event in Afghanistan, but it has its fans and I am one of them.”

Organizers of the event said that motor racing was an expensive sport and new to Afghanistan. However, it is a sport that has caught on very quickly among the youth.

“We were able to create our teams in the provinces as well and in total we have 280 racing members,” said one of the organizers, Rahbar.

The head of the development section of the Motorsport Federation of Afghanistan, Abdul Wahid Quraishi, said: “These vehicles are heavy and are very modified.”

The Motorsport Federation was founded in 2017 in the framework of the National Olympic Committee and has already formed a team to compete internationally.
