Afghanistan’s Football Team Starts Training in Turkey

Afghanistan’s National Football Team on Wednesday started a seven-day training program in Turkey ahead of friendly matches against Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan next month.

The team’s training sessions kicked off in Turkey’s Antalya city and 23 players are attending.

The training is in preparation the friendly matches against Afghanistan’s two neighboring countries in December. 

“I am very happy that for the first time I was invited to the national team and happy that I am with national team players,” said Farid Ahmad, a new member of the team.

The team will also play a friendly match against Turkey’s Antalyaspor club. The match will kick off at3:30pm Kabul time on Saturday. 

Anoush Dastgir, a former national football team member, who is currently the team’s head coach,said: “I always wanted to play football and play for the national team and now it’s an honor for me to reached to this level (of being their coach).”

Dastgir, the 28-year-old, was former assistant coach and was selected as the new head coach in July. 

At the time of his appointment he had been living with his family in the Netherlands.

At 13, Dastagir started playing football for an amateur club and in one year, he was recruited by Niemschen N.I.C team of Netherlands Youth League and played for the team for four years before being selected as Fenlo’s captain.

Dastagir graduated in the field of Football Management from Johan Kriefe university among other accomplishments.

Due to his efforts Dastagir also played for the Netherlands first team and Premier League and hasplayed for Japan’s National Team, Kisok Hinda.
