Fazli Introduced As New ACB Chief

Azizullah Fazli was formally introduced as the new head of Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) at a ceremony on Wednesday.

Fazli has worked in various ACB departments.

The new head of the cricket board said he will implement a new mechanism for the ACB and that he is committed to getting more achievements on cricket in Afghanistan.

Fazli said he wants to review the incumbent structure of the cricket board and the selection committee and that he will establish a system through which best employees will be appreciated and admired for their good work.

“The national players should work with a national mindset. The Afghanistan Cricket Board requires changes, it has to improve cricket and build cricket grounds that meet international norms,” Fazli said.

He said the ACB is a national administration and that its doors are open for all the people to share their concerns and suggestions.

Fazli said he is committed to working firmly for the position as far as he remains as head of the ACB. He added that he wants to deliver what he has committed to the people.

Meanwhile, the outgoing head of the ACB, Atif Mashal, talked on achievements under his leadership in the cricket board.

“A proper mechanism has been established for the ACB,” he said. “At least eight cricket grounds have been built in the country.”

He said he has worked on different departments of the cricket board and ensured improvement in all of them.

Mashal said that under his leadership the cricket board has got the full membership status of the International Cricket Council.

He said he has recommendations for the players and the new leadership: “Try to keep the administration from establishment of small islands of power. The national players are in an important situation. I ask them to pay full attention on the Asian Cup. Also, pay attention to the World Cup as your next program. Appointments and changes in the team are a normal process; therefore, pay attention to your game.”

Mashal said he has left an administration with a proper mechanism and an established system; therefore, he said that he calls on the new ACB leadership to improve technical capacity of the players and the administration.

He said he has left no stone unturned to keep the ACB detached from politics. He said there has been changes in the ACB and that now it requires continuation.

Mashal called on the new ACB chief to continue the ongoing programs of the administration. He said that he has got budget for six cricket grounds in the country therefore he asks the new ACB leadership to pay attention to this matter.
