Women Contest In First Ever Bowling Tournament

 At least 10 women contested in the first ever bowling competition in Kabul on Thursday. The tournament titled ‘Women the Symbol of Freedom’.

It was the first bowling contest for women in the country. 

Organizers of the event said the competition was aimed at boosting the sport and moving forward to establish bowling federation.

“It was an initiative by media athletes to improve bowling. They want to establish bowling federation,” said Edris Farooqi, organizer of the event. 

“The goal of this event was to improve bowling in Afghanistan. This initiative is also aimed at establishing bowling federation in the country,” said Nilofar Safar, an organizer of the event.

Alia, Feroza and Setara got the first, second and third positions in the tournament.

“It is a pride to see the first ever bowling tournament for girls. I see it as a positive step towards improving the sport,” Alia, a participant of the event said.

“The good thing about the competition was that we saw the capacity and interest of girls in this sport,” said Feroza another participant. 

Meanwhile, Mirwais Bahawi, technical deputy head of the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports called the event an exceptional chance for the sport. 

“We should support this sport. This support does not mean to attend your events; we want to show our support in practice,” he said. 

“We are happy that another federation was added to the federations of Afghanistan. It was the first tournament of bowling for women,” said Mastoora, an official of the directorate.

The first bowling completion of men was held few weeks ago where 32 athletes from different parts of Kabul participated.
