Two weeks after the Independent Election Commission (IEC) chief’s was fired, his post is still vacant. As such, analysts and critics have sharply criticized government for not introducing a new head of the IEC.

Critics say the IEC chief’s dismissal was illegal and this was done because of government pressure. 

Analysts meanwhile said government must not interfere in the affairs of electoral bodies.
