Ahmad Zia Massoud, deputy head of Jamiat-e-Islami party and former special envoy of President Ashraf Ghani for reforms and good governance, criticized government over what he called the “lack of a strong will to eliminate insurgents”.

Addressing an event in Kapisa province, Massoud stressed the need for a strong will to ensure peace and stability in the country.

“Let’s realize this that whether they (government) do not want to fight the insurgents, or there is a secret contract between government, militants and Pakistan intelligence or it is the issue of election and they want Pakistanis and the Taliban to help them (in elections), or there are something else in secret that they (government) do not attack (militants),” said Massoud.

Meanwhile, he said government has not responded enough to Pakistan’s missile attacks on Afghan soil.
