A number of parliament members have criticized the Independent Election Commission for not having carried out an awareness campaign ahead of the launch of the voter registration process. 

MPs said one of the main reasons for the low registration turnout was the lack of awareness around the process. 

The MPs said what also made it difficult was the use of paper identification cards.
