Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani, First Lady Rula Ghani and Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish were among the first applicants whose names were entered into the database of the electronic national identity card (e-NIC), sources said on Thursday.

The United Kingdom’s deputy ambassador to Kabul has called on officials to ensure there are no further delays in Afghanistan’s parliamentary and district council elections – which are scheduled for July 7 this year.
