Hussain Bakhsh Safari, Afghanistan’s only gold medalist in Ju-Jitsu at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Turkmenistan last year, defeated his Mongolian rival 6-0 in the 2018 Asia Games on Saturday.
But hours later Safari lost his second bout 0-13 to his rival from Jordan.
After eight days of the games, Afghanistan’s athletes have only one bronze medal – won by Khalid Hotak in Wushu.
Eighty Afghans are representing the country at the event in Jakarta in Indonesia.
Hotak has so far defeated his Pakistani and Laos rivals and says he hopes to beat his Chinese rival in his next bout on Wednesday evening.
Hotak defeated his Laos rival in the second round in a knock out and he defeated his Pakistani rival on points.
The international sports is on until September 2, 2018, in Jakarta and Palembang. Athletes from 46 sports categories are competing in the event.
