Afghanistan’s Ashihara Karate Federation on Sunday said the Afghan Ashihara team won nine medals in different categories at the 6th Ashihara Sabaki World Championships in Aktau city in Kazakhstan.
Athletes from 30 countries competed in the event and Afghanistan, with nine medals, came in 4th overall.
Russia ended first, while Romania and Kazakhstan came in second and third respectively.
Afghanistan won three gold medals, one silver and five bronze medals at the event.
Afghanistan’s Fayaz Durandesh, Ali Reza Ehsanzada and Sayed Naser Hashemi all won gold.
Fayaz competed in the under 45 kg category, Ehsanzada under 55 kg and Hashemi under 65 kg category.
Afghanistan’s Sher Mohammad Muradi, Fareed Aqa Durandehs, Abdul Shaker Hamidi, Mohammad Omar Sufizadah, Ebad Mohammad and Mahdi Ahmad Joya are also among the medal winners.
