Afghan Ski Challenge Tournament Ends In Bamiyan

Masuma Hassani has won the fifth round of Afghan Ski Challenge Tournament for girls which has ended in Bamiyan province.

Freba Ahmadi and Fatima Nazari took second and third places respectively in the challenge in which 13 skiers participated.

Three clubs from the province attended the five-day competition.

“Today we are witnessing the founding of a basis for the ski sport in Afghanistan. Many changes have happened in skiing in recent years. The number of girls skiers has increased from six to 15. These athletes have represented Afghanistan in world events,” said Khalid Bamiyani, spokesman for Ski Federation.

“My message to my sisters is that they should never lose their motivation and always feel powerful. They should never accept defeat. Position is not important; courage is important,” Masuma Hassani said.

The ski competition for boys will be held on Friday, involving 60 skiers.
