Taliban insurgents were on Wednesday morning pushed back by security forces after a 12-hour clash following their attack on Baghlan-Mazar-e-Sharif highway check posts late Tuesday night.
The attack was launched on check posts at about 10pm on Tuesday night, which resulted in the highway being closed to traffic for a few hours, local officials said Wednesday.
Clashes between security forces and insurgents continued until about 10am Wednesday, officials said.
Dozens of motorists were left stranded from Tuesday night on the highway due to the incident.
There are no reports on casualties as yet.
