At least 12 Daesh militants were killed in a military operation carried out by army soldiers in Chaparhar district in eastern Nangarhar province in the past 24 hours, the Afghan National Army’s 201 Selab Corps said in a statement on Friday.
Lieutenant Colonel Sherin Aqa Faqiri, spokesman of the Corps, said two key members of the group are among those killed in the operation.
Meanwhile, he said a suicide bomber of Daesh was killed by security forces in Nangarhar before reaching his target.
No details were given on whether there were any casualties among civilians or security forces.
