GOFTMAN: Indonesia Conference On Afghanistan Discussed

A recent meeting of religious scholars from Afghanistan, Indonesia and Pakistan, was held in Indonesia to seek peace and stability in Afghanistan, and ended with a declaration announcement.

The Taliban did not attend the conference, but on the eve of the conference, carried out a series of bloody suicide attacks in Kabul and a number of other cities killing and wounding hundreds of civilians and security forces.

In February President Ashraf Ghani made a peace offer at the Kabul process but Taliban responded by launching their spring operation.

In such a situation, can such meetings lead to the achievement of peace and stability in Afghanistan?

The scholars of Pakistan, who have issued several Fatwas of jihad in Afghanistan, attended the conference. Why did they attend it?

If the solution to the problem in Afghanistan is not resolved through such meetings, then where will the solution be found?

In this episode of Goftman host Partaw Naderi discusses the topic with the following guests:

Mohammad Qasim Halimi, Ulema council member

Omar Sadr, Researcher at the Afghanistan Institute for Strategic Studies

Mohammad Muhq, Researcher at Islamic Studies of Afghanistan

Haroon Mir, political analyst
