The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) confirmed on Sunday Munira Yousufzada has been appointed as the new deputy governor of Kabul province.
This comes amid ongoing efforts by government to increase the number of women in leadership positions.
In a statement issued by the IDLG, the body said: “Ms Yousufzada who previously worked as Director of Information and Public Awareness and Spokesperson for IDLG, has been appointed as Social Affairs’ Deputy Governor of Kabul Province as per a presidential decree.”
“She is a well-known character among media and social activists and has worked with international NGOs and the IDLG for the last ten years,” said the IDLG.
