Afghan Girls’ Robotics Team Warmly Welcomed In Holland

The Afghan girls robotics team were warmly welcomed in an international event in Amsterdam in the Netherlands on Thursday.

Researchers, scientists and inventors from 100 countries attended the two-day event.

The robotics team displayed their robot at the event.

Fatima Qaderyan, member of the robotics team, made an emotional speech at the event where she mentioned her father as a hero who supported her to achieve her dreams.

“We participated at the competition (in the United States) and returned home with a medal. This changed the view of the (Afghan) leaders and the people about women. It helped to reduce some restrictions for women in many families,” she said.

The robotics team attended the FIRST Global Challenge — a three-day international robotics competition that aimed at promoting science and technology among youths worldwide.

The contest was launched in July.
