The ACB has selected its team for Afghanistan’s tour of Ireland next month.
ACB Names Squad To Play Ireland
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Wednesday announced the list of players for three T20s and three ODI matches against Ireland in August.
Two newcomers, Sayed Ahmad Shirzad and Hazratullah Zazai, have also been selected.
The cricketers to play in the ODI series are as follows: Mohammad Shahzad, Mohammad Jawed Ahmadi, Ehsanullah Jannat, Asghar Stanikzai, Samiullah Shinwari, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Najibullah Zadran, Nabi Isakhail, Gulbuddin Nayeb, Rashid Khan, Mujib Zadran, Aftab Alam, Sayed Ahmad Shirzad, Dawlat Zadran and Wafadar Mohmand.
The players for the three T20 matches against Ireland are Shahzad Mohammadi, Osman Ghani, Hazratullah Zazai, Samiullah Shinwari, Asghar Stanikzai, Nabi Isakhail, Shafiullah Shafaq, Najib Zadran, Gulbuddin Nayeb, Rashid Khan, Mujib Zadran, Mirwais Ashraf, Aftab Alam and Farid Malik.
Members of the ACB selection committee said they will also select players for first class matches against Ireland from those who play well in a planned practice camp.
“Fifteen players will be selected for the first class matches against Ireland in the near future,” said Wali Amin, a member of the committee.
Afghanistan will begin a three-match T20 series against Ireland on August 20, before a three-match one-day series starts on August 27.
Afghanistan defeated Ireland by five wickets in March in a winner-takes-all Super Sixes game for a place at the World Cup.
Since then the two sides have played their inaugural Tests and are set to meet for the first time in the five-day arena in February next year.
