Afghanistan U-16 Football Team Heads For Oman

The Afghan Under 16 national football team left for Oman on Sunday for a six-day training camp and two friendly matches against their host nation.

The team will then go on to Uzbekistan for the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) U-16 tournament next month.

In Oman the team will take part in the training camp and then play Oman’s U-16 team in two friendlies.

The Uzbekistan matches will start on July 5 in Tashkent and will feature teams from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

From here, the team will head for Malaysia where they will take part in the qualifying rounds for the AFC U-16 Championship - which for some teams will mean a berth in the FIFA U-17 World Cup Peru 2019.

This tournament will be played from September 20.
