AGO Continues Probe Into Allegations Against Football Federation

The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) continues its investigation into allegations against Afghanistan’s Football Federation (AFF), the AGO spokesman Jamshid Rasuli said.

According to Rasuli, 15 people are under investigation in connection with the allegations.

“The AGO's work is to continue probe into the allegations. We ask the Hummel company that why they withdrew their sponsorship for the football federation and if they have any documents they should share it with us," Rasuli said.

“We have asked (former member of the football federation) Khalida Popal to provide evidence over the claims she has made against the football federation to help us in the investigation,” he said.

FIFA last week provisionally suspended the head of AFF, Keramuddin Karim, over allegations of physical and sexual abuse of woman members of the federation.

FIFA said the sanction was imposed "in connection with ongoing investigations concerning AFF officials, as reported by local authorities and published by some media."

The issue was raised by a member of the AFF, Khalida Popal, who claimed that woman members of the federation were abused physically and sexually by male members of the AFF at its headquarters and at a training camp in Jordan in 2016.

Karim last week rejected the claims against him and his office which said he and other employees of the authority have sexually and physically abused female members of the federation including women football players in different occasions.

The FIFA suspension of Karim applies to all football-related activities at national and international level and expires in 90 days.
