India Announces Squad For Afghanistan Test

India on Tuesday announced a 15-man squad for the Test match against Afghanistan which will be played from June 14-18 in India's Bangalore.

Ajinkya Rahane, would be captain for Indian team after Virat Kohli decided to skip this match for County cricket in England. 

Apart from Kohli, Indian top stars including Ravichandran Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara are included in the squad. 

The match is expected to kick-off in Bangalore.

Afghanistan and Ireland were awarded full membership status at the ICC last June.

Before this, Afghanistan expressed a wish to play its first Test against India and the Indian cricket board accepted the proposal.

Cricket has a long history in Afghanistan, but the country only gained full one-day international (ODI) status in 2011.

In 2015, Afghanistan took part in their first 50-over World Cup and they have also played in the World Twenty20 competition.
