Officials from the National Weightlifting Federation said Afghanistan's weightlifting squad is preparing for the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The tournament will kick off on August 18.

Mirwais Raziqi and Zubair Nazari, the national weightlifting team members, will represent Afghanistan at the event.

Raziqi and Nazari said they eye good achievements at the event.

Mir Abdul Ghafoor Rasuli, the national team’s coach, said the two athletes are preparing for the Asian Games for the past two months.

Their goal, he said, is to bring pride for Afghanistan.

The Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games will start on August 18. Forty- five nations will attend and from Afghanistan 80 athletes will take part in 16 sporting codes.
