At least 14 people including Awami National Party (ANP) leader Haroon Bilour were killed in a suicide attack in Pakistan’s Peshawar on Tuesday, Pakistan’s Geo News reported.
In addition, dozens more were wounded.
The incident happened after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at a meeting in Peshawar after Bilour arrived at the venue, near the stage, to address supporters at the meeting as welcoming party members and admirers engaged in a display of fireworks, the report said.
The ANP candidate was set to contest the July 25 elections from Peshawar's PK-78 constituency.
At least 65 other people were wounded in the explosion, and 15 of those were in a critical condition, hospital sources told Geo News.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
