The General Directorate of Traffic prepared a plan to prevent traffic incidents.

According to this directorate, an electronic management system will be implemented on five major highways that have witnessed the most traffic incidents.

The establishment of vehicle management centers, electronic traffic signals, and the installation of speed measuring devices are among the tasks that will be implemented in this plan.

Abdul Wadood Khairkhwah, the head of Planning and Policy at the General Directorate of Traffic, said: "On most highways, unfortunate traffic incidents occur, and to prevent these incidents, we have taken this plan in hand which will be pursued and implemented during the 1403 (solar year)."

Khairkhwah mentioned that the Kabul-Torkham, Kabul-Gardez, Kabul-Herat, Kabul-Faryab, and Kabul-Badakhshan highways are among those where this plan will be implemented.

The head of Planning and Policy at the General Directorate of Traffic, added: "The control and surveillance police will be shifted there, monitoring the flow of traffic and reporting the slightest infractions occurring along the route via communication or an online system to their forward posts."

A number of citizens and drivers emphasized the standardization of traffic flow in the country.

"On the Kabul-Kandahar highway and some other areas, there are no traffic signals which cause traffic incidents to occur. We witness these incidents in the Mahipar area because drivers drive at high speeds," said Eid Mohammad, a driver.

"We request the traffic directorate to install traffic signals on highways because numerous incidents occur on these routes," said Zalmay, a Kabul resident.

Earlier, the General Directorate of Traffic reported that during the Eid al-Fitr holidays, there were 102 traffic incidents in which at least 50 people died and 185 others were injured.
