Businessman’s Son Kidnapped By Gunmen In Kabul

The son of a businessman was kidnapped by a group of about 10 kidnappers in 13th Street in Wazir Akbar Khan on Thursday morning, police confirmed.

Eyewitnesses said the incident took place in front of security forces at around 10:30am on Thursday.

According to an eyewitness, the kidnappers drove a Land Cruiser vehicle with tinted windows. This vehicle was accompanied by another vehicle loaded with armed men.

“The kidnappers took him [the kidnapped person] out of his home and wanted to put him in the car but he resisted. The kidnappers then tied his hands and beat him with a walkie-talkie,” Zainuddin, an eyewitness told TOLOnews.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Kabul Police Chief Hassan Shah Frogh said the kidnappers also took the businessman’s driver who was released a few hours after the incident.

He said the young man was taken to Surobi district in Kabul.

The businessman has asked not to be identified.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Siyam Psarlai, said he is concerned about the situation which deters investors and businessmen in the country.

“Be sure that capital will leave the country if the situation prevails,” Psarlai said.
