The Hizb-e-Islami leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in his first public speech in 20 years said the current war between the Taliban and security forces is killing Afghans and it is being controlled by foreigners.

Hekmatyar also called on the Taliban to stop the violence and join the peace process.

According to him, a sustainable peace is a need among Afghans and the Afghan people need a powerful central government.

Government leaders meanwhile welcomed Hekmatyar’s return to the country.
