At least three Haqqani network commanders were killed during a drone strike by foreign forces in Paktia province last week, said 303 Spinghar Police Corps on Saturday.
Abdul Hai Mateen, Qari Mustafa and Qare Sor were the Haqqani commanders killed in the strike, 303 Spinghar Police Corps said.
The drone strike was carried out in the Dandpatan district of Paktia province, officials said.
Meanwhile Paktia police said that a military operation to clear insecure parts of the province will be launched soon.
Local residents have also raised their voices and appealed to government to rid their province of insurgents.
Their concern comes amid ongoing insurgent activity in the Zazai Aryoub, Dandepatan and Jani Khail districts in Paktia – areas that all border Pakistan.
