In the last match of the third week of the Afghan Premier League (APL) on Friday, Shaheen Asmyaee, from Kabul, beat Mawjhai Amu, from the north-east, 2-0, saving itself from elimination in the tournament.
The match kicked-off at the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) stadium on Friday afternoon to a packed stadium. More than 7,000 spectators attended the nail-biting match.
The match started on a high not for Shaheen who scored their first goal in the 5th minute of the game. However their excitement was short-lived after the referee ruled out the goald.
Shaheen's Roheed Samandar was however able to finally net a goal for his time in the 41st minute.
At the end of the first half, the score was 1-0 in Shaheen's favor.
Both teams however played a fast-paced game in the second half but the net eluded the Amu players.
Shaheen would not let up and Mujibullah Faizi scored the second goal for his team - widening the gap to 2-0 in their favor.
Friday's win secured a semi-finals place for Shaheen, who joins De Maiwand Atalan on the list of semi-finalists.
