MoCIT Says Its Revenue Increased 30% From Previous Year

The spokesman for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT), Enayatullah Alokozai, said that the revenue of the ministry has increased by 30 percent compared to the previous year.

Alokozai said that efforts are underway to increase the internet facilities in the country. According to him, the revenue was made from 10 percent of funds which the telecommunication clients are directly paying to renew their bundles.

“Compared to the previous year, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT) has had approximately 30 percent more revenue,” he said.

This comes as the residents of the capital Kabul voiced their concerns over the low quality of the internet service.

They said that despite high prices for internet bundles, the quality of the internet is very low.

“I have not seen any reduction in prices of internet in Afghanistan as it is still poor quality,” said Lutfullah, a resident of Kabul.

“The money they collect as tax is not acceptable for us because it is not being spent in any reconstruction and we have not seen anything like that,” said Fahim Ahmadi, a resident of Kabul.

Earlier, the MoCIT said that it collected nearly 8 billion Afs in revenue from the telecommunication services in the 1401 fiscal year.
