Afghans Imprisoned Abroad Discussed in Cabinet Meeting

The fifteenth meeting of the Islamic Emirate's cabinet covered the difficulties faced by Afghan immigrants who are imprisoned in neighboring and region countries.

The meeting, which was chaired by the Islamic Emirate's Prime Minister, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, and the Foreign Ministry, was tasked to take steps for the release of Afghan prisoners and to address their challenges.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was ordered to make an accurate count of the prisoners in other countries, address and investigate their cases,” the Islamic Emirate’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid told TOLOnews.

According to the data of the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR), currently nearly six thousand Afghan immigrants are imprisoned in Pakistan and nearly seven thousand are imprisoned in Iran due to different crimes.

Some analysts believe that discussions with neighboring and regional countries are important for releasing Afghan prisoners.

"The good thing about these meetings is that ideas are exchanged, information is exchanged, decisions are made in the light of information, and it can be very useful,” said Sayed Moqadam Amin, a political analyst.

“It is the duty of the Islamic Emirate to address the problems of the Afghan immigrants  imprisoned and their rights,” said Abdulhai Qanit, an international relations analyst.

The Arg said in a statement that in the cabinet meeting, the Ministry of Economy was tasked to address the challenges facing Kochis in the country.
