Retirees Continue to Call for Payment of Pensions

Retirees at a gathering in Kabul once again called on the Islamic Emirate to pay their retirement pensions.

They criticized the continued unpaid pensions and said that despite their protests and calls for their rights, they have not received their pensions.

Saying the slogan “we want our rights”, the hardships of life, and concerns over unpaid pensions have pushed the retirees to protest in front of the Department of Government Pensions and the Retirement Directorate.

“We have nothing, For the past two years we have come to the Ministry of Finance and requested our rights to the pension which is a part of our salaries, it’s not charity, so why don’t they give us our right? We want the Islamic Emirate to have some kindness,” said Dari Khan, a retiree.

“These people who have come today and appeal for their rights are obliged to do so, this is not propaganda or disobedience against the Islamic Emirate,” said Shah Wazir, another retiree.

Ghulam Khan, who has come to Kabul from Parwan to receive his retirement pension, says that he is facing economic problems but the government does not pay attention to his situation.

“The weather is extremely cold and terrible, they have illnesses and we have too many problems,” Ghulam Khan said.

“We are facing too many problems, we have nothing to buy coal or wood, and we want our rights from the Islamic Emirate,” said Faisal Ahmad, a retiree.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate said that the law regarding the payment of pensions for retirees has been sent to the leader of the Islamic Emirate for approval.

“Their appeal has been considered and I hope their problem will be solved soon,” said Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate.

This comes as the retirees have again and again protested to receive their retirement pension.
