Nangarhar Man Kills Three Family Members

On Friday a man killed three members of his family in the city of Jalalabad.

The incident occurred in the Azimabad area in PD 8 of the city.

Relatives of this family said that the incident happened due to domestic violence, and the man’s wife, son, and daughter-in-law were killed.

Abdul Ghani Salarzai, a relative of the victims, told TOLOnews reporters: "He killed his young daughter-in-law, his wife, and one of his unmarried sons. All people have gathered in sorrow for this grief."

Enamullah, a neighbor of the family, said: "At the time of evening prayers, we were in the alley when we heard gunfire in this village. When we went to the place, we saw that the father of the family had killed his son, wife, and daughter-in-law."

Local officials in Nangarhar also said that this man was in custody and further investigations are underway.

Abdul Basir Zabuli, the spokesperson for the Nangarhar Security Department, said: "Security forces reached the site and transferred the injured to the hospital, but unfortunately, they died there. The murderer had fled the scene, but the security forces were able to arrest him and hand him over to the law."

Meanwhile, a number of religious scholars and psychiatrists said that people should always, especially in the holy month of Ramadan, practice patience and consultation, and those with mental illness should consult with doctors.

Azizullah Ulfat, a religious scholar, said: "O Muslims! Ramadan is not a month of anger; it is a month of worship."

Amir Khan Pamir, a psychiatrist, said: "Such individuals should try to remain calm, and if they do not exercise patience and restraint, such incidents happen."

Domestic violence and the occurrence of such incidents are not new in Afghanistan, which has often witnessed murder cases over land disputes, objectionable customs, and domestic violence.
