Coinciding with the start of the 1403 academic year, the Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVET) announced the signing of an agreement with China aimed at establishing a Kabul-Beijing joint institute.

Ghulam Haidar Shahamat, acting head of TVET, said that the creation of this institute will provide more job opportunities for the youth.

"Thank God, we have an agreement with China to build joint institutes and train people for the Afghan job market together. If needed, they will even take them to China and provide them with Chinese language training," he said.

Meanwhile, Abdul Baqi Haqqani, the head of the National Examination Authority, called science one of the country's essential needs and said that job opportunities should also be made available for the youth alongside education.

"Our people should stand on their own feet; our government, our system, should be free from dependency on others, and the Afghan society as a whole will be free from occupation,” he said.

Khalil Rahman Haqqani, the acting minister of Refugees and Repatriation, also emphasized the importance of learning modern and religious sciences in the country and called for the creation of educational opportunities for returnees in the country.

"Our first request is education for the returnees, that they be provided with places for education so that all centers, whether religious or modern, create educational opportunities for them in universities, schools, and madrasas," said Khalil Rahman Haqqani.

With the beginning of the 1403 academic year, schools above 6th grade and universities remain closed to girls and women.
