Charity Foundation Provides Food, Cooking Supplies in Helmand for Ramadan

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) of the United Arab Emirates is providing food aid to 500 needy individuals in Helmand province.

Sayed Ahmad Selab, a representative of the foundation, said that this aid will also be distributed to the needy in four other provinces of the country.

Selab said: "The humanitarian aid of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) started in Helmand, helping 500 families with nine types of food items, including flour, oil, black tea, green tea, beans, chickpeas, rice, and salt."

Recipients of this aid said they face serious economic challenges during the month of Ramadan.

Lal Mohammad, a 55-year-old resident of Marjah district in Helmand, who supports an 18-member family, said he cannot afford to provide one meal a day for his family due to economic challenges.

He is pleased to receive help from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF).

Lal Mohammad, said: "It's been five years since I have eaten meat in my house."

Other needy individuals who have come to receive aid from this foundation said they cannot afford their family expenses due to poverty and unemployment.

They also request that other aid organizations to assist them.

Siddiqullah, a resident of Helmand, said: "There is unemployment, no work. In a month there is only one day of work that earns me five hundred, with which I should buy tea, oil, grains, or treat my sick? What should I do? There is drought."

Fareed Ahmad, another resident of Helmand, said: "This aid is very beneficial for us, the poor, as they at least cover the consumption for one month of Ramadan."

The aid packages are distributed by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) to the needy while the foundation also distributes Iftar to 5,000 needy people across five provinces of the country every day.
