Kabul Requests Invite to OIC Meeting in Gambia

The Islamic Emirate has requested the participation of a representative from the interim government at the upcoming Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Gambia.

The deputy prime minister for administrative affairs, Abdul Salam Hanafi, stated this in a meeting with Tariq Ali Bakhit, the deputy and special envoy of OIC for Afghanistan.

Yesterday, Tariq Ali Bakhit arrived in Kabul at the head of a delegation and met with the acting minister of Foreign Affairs and the acting minister of Vice and Virtue and the Administrative Deputy of the Islamic Emirate's Prime Ministry.

“Mr. Hanafi emphasized the expansion of relations between the Islamic Emirate and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries and requested the participation of an Islamic Emirate representative at the conference that will be held soon in Gambia,” said Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate.

The acting Foreign Minister also discussed ensuring security, fighting against Daesh, the active role of women in the health, education, trade sectors, and the protection of women’s fundamental rights during the meeting with this delegation.

Tariq Ali Bakhit stated that the current visit to Afghanistan is part of the positive engagement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation with the interim government.

“The visit of the deputy from the OIC office conveys the demands, requests, proposals, and conditions of the countries,” said Wais Naseri, political analyst.

“We must be aware that there are a series of preconditions that, if accepted by the Taliban, are very likely to open more channels,” said Farhad Abrar, an International relations analyst.

Meanwhile, the acting Minister of Vice and Virtue, in the meeting with the Deputy and Special Representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Afghanistan, stated that he would not allow anyone to undermine women’s rights in the country, emphasizing that women's rights are more secure than ever before.

Abdul Ghafar Farooq, head of Information and Publications at the Ministry of Vice and Virtue, said: “Mr. Hanafi spoke about women's rights stating that the Islamic Emirate is committed to the Sharia rights of women and will not allow anyone to violate these rights.”

Officials of the Islamic Emirate in their meetings with this delegation requested their efforts in expanding the relations of Islamic countries with the interim government.
