Construction of Two Schools In Jawzjan Begins

After TOLOnews reported that there was a lack of buildings for the General Abdul Hakim Qahraman High School in Sheberghan city, the capital of Jawzjan province, a social institution has begun the construction of a school.

The officials of this institution said that in order to provide a safe educational environment for students, 68 girls and boys schools will be built in 34 provinces of the country.

"We plan to build two schools in each province. Today we started in Jawzjan Province, there are approximately 68 schools in our plan," said Mohammad Qais Arghandiwal, head of charity.

Local educational officials and residents at the groundbreaking ceremony of the school said that the lack of standard buildings for 120 schools in the provinces is a serious challenge.

According to them, currently 40,000 students are studying outdoors and in rental houses.

"More than 120 schools need reconstruction and also standard buildings because lots of them have no buildings,” said Mohammad Taher Jawad, head of education in Jawzjan.

"They studied outside without classes, they studied under tents. These [students] will be saved from the dangers of disease and their future will be brightened," said Mohabatullah Talash, a Jawzjan resident.

"There used to be a lot of trouble here. You can see these buildings, they were old and worn out, and the students could not have studied under them," said Amanullah Faqiri, a Jawzjan resident.

According to officials of Jawzjan Education Department, the construction of four schools has started with the financial cooperation of businessmen and charitable institutions since the beginning of this year, and one of them has been completed and put into operation.
