U.S president-elect Donald Trump spoke with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani by phone on Friday, Trump’s transition team said in a statement.

According to the statement: “The two discussed the grave terrorism threats facing both countries and pledged to work more closely together in order to deal with the threats.”

This is the first time since Trump won the presidential elections in the United States that contact has been made with Ghani.
