Bamyan Launches Development Projects to Elevate Tourism Industry

Local officials in Bamyan have announced the implementation of several development projects this year aimed at boosting the tourism industry.

These projects include providing electricity, road reconstruction, and the construction of hotels and restaurants as the priority projects to be carried out in Band-e Amir National Park.

Abdullah Sarhadi, the governor of Bamyan, emphasized that these efforts will provide more facilities for tourists and strengthen the tourism infrastructure.

The governor of Bamyan said, “The reconstruction has begun, two institutions are working, we are trying to install solar electricity throughout Band-e Amir National Park. Last year, the road had problems, but this year it will be properly repaired, and also, large hotels will be built for tourists.”

Every year, domestic and foreign tourists come to this province to visit its natural attractions and ancient sites.

Cultural activists and university lecturers also emphasize the importance of creating infrastructure and removing limitations to nurture the tourism industry.

“The more attention is given to the facilities and amenities of tourism, the more beneficial it is for the tourism sector, and through this, the revenues of the government and the people will increase,” said Baqir Marifat, a university lecturer.

“Challenges like substandard infrastructure, lack of tourism facilities, unpaved roads, and some restrictions hinder the progress of the tourism industry, which will thrive by overcoming these challenges,” said Maisam Nazari, a cultural activist.

According to statistics from the Bamyan Directorate of Information and Culture, last year "more than 100,000" domestic and foreign tourists visited recreational attractions in the province, and this year more efforts will be made to attract tourists.
