Iranian Delegation Discusses Creation of Customs Office in Nimroz

The acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi in a meeting with an Iranian delegation led by Mojtaba Norouzi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and the head of the Veterinary Organization of Iran, discussed the creation of a new customs office in Nimroz province.

Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, the spokesman for the Ministry, said that the two sides also discussed improving the trade balance, Afghanistan's transit goods, the development of Afghanistan's agricultural sector, and the establishment of railways.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said: "Both sides discussed increasing and balancing the trade balance between the two countries, Afghanistan's transit goods, the development of Afghanistan's agriculture, establishing a railway for Afghan export goods, creating a new customs office in Nimroz, and bilateral cooperation.”

The acting minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, also met with the Iranian delegation.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, in a statement said that in the meeting, Ataullah Omari, the acting minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, discussed facilitating the export and import of agricultural products, quarantine of livestock products and crops, as well as the sharing of technical knowledge and experience in various fields.

Misbahuddin Mustaeen, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, said: "Professional teams from both sides were appointed to discuss the development of cooperation in the sectors of livestock, horticulture, research, investment, and exports and imports.”

Meanwhile, the Chamber of Commerce and Investment considers the establishment of a new customs office in Nimroz province beneficial for the development of commercial relations.

"A coordination center between Afghanistan and Iran should also be established for customs, transit, and commission matters, which would have a committee to resolve issues with both sides and engage in discussions,” said Khan Jan Alokozay, a member of the board of ACCI.

Two weeks before the visit of the Iranian delegation to Afghanistan, a technical team of the Islamic Emirate traveled to Iran to discuss facilities in the transportation sector, customs, and the Chabahar port with Iranian officials in separate meetings.
