At least 60 children and teenagers graduated from a training program lasting three months at the Juvenile Rehabilitation Center on Sunday in Kabul.

The head of the Juvenile Rehabilitation Center, Nazar Mohammad Naseri, said that nearly 250 children are being trained in this center.

“The crafting workshops will be open. The number of students who graduated from these workshops is 60,” he said.

Elham, 17, said that he has been detained here for nearly two years.

“They have launched professional workshops for us which include mobile phone repair, laying pipe, shoemaking and other fields,” Elham said.

Some of the youth who studied various subjects in the center wished they could get an early release.

“Math, English and several other subjects were discussed here,” said Kiwmars, a teenage detainee.

“We ask the juvenile rehabilitation centers to pardon us and release us,” said Mazhab, a teenage detainee.

“I am very happy that my son now studies religious studies,” said Abdul Karim, father of a teenage detainee.

The detainees here have various opinions about the behavior of the center’s employees.

The detainees said that they have been detained for committing various types of crimes including robbery, murder and other criminal activities.
