A number of citizens criticized the slowness of the passport distribution process.

Some of them said that despite waiting months, they had not yet been successful in getting a passport.

Mohammad Azim, a passport applicant who came to Kabul from Balkh to get a passport, said that after registering more than a year ago, he has yet to receive it.

He asked the Islamic Emirate to speed up the passport distribution process.

"If our passport work is done in Mazar or in Samangan, since we are residents of Mazar, we are satisfied, but up until now such a system has not been created," said Mohammad Azim, a resident of Balkh, told TOLOnews.

"We registered fifteen months ago, but my turn has not yet arrived. We made requests many times, but they did not give a verdict,” said Moharam Ali, a passport applicant.

Some residents of Kabul urged the passport department to increase the number of passport distribution centers in the capital and provinces.

"The Directorate of Passports should increase its staff and build more centers so that people's problems can be solved quicker,” said Farshad, a resident of Kabul.

In the meantime, some Afghan immigrants in Pakistan also said that they went to the Afghan embassy in Pakistan to get a passport, but due to problems and not having an electronic ID card, they could not get one.

"Many Afghans who do not have passports are attempting to obtain them. Unfortunately, there is an enormous flood of people at the Afghan embassy in Islamabad,” said Shahrukhi, an Afghan immigrant in Pakistan.

Despite multiple attempts, TOLOnews was unable to get a statement from the Directorate of Passports.

Earlier, Abdul Karim Hasib, the director of the General Directorate of Passports, said in a special interview with TOLOnews that three passport distribution centers would be established in Kabul in two to three months.
