Kabul Rejects Afghan Involvement in Attack on Chinese Nationals in Pakistan

The Islamic Emirate rejected the claim made by Pakistan's Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) alleging Afghanistan's involvement in the recent attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Denying this claim, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, reiterated that Afghan soil will not be used against any country.

“Ensuring security in Pakistan is the responsibility of the Pakistani security forces. They have made significant expenditure in this sector, and when they fail, they must justify it to the people and levy these accusations to change the public's mindset,” said Zabihullah Mujahid.

Previously, the Counter-Terrorism Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had claimed Afghanistan's involvement in the recent attack on Chinese engineers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to some Pakistani media reports citing the CTD, the vehicle carrying explosives for this deadly attack was prepared in Afghanistan and then transferred from the Chaman crossing to Balochistan, Pakistan, and thereafter to the Dera Ismail Khan area in the Drazinda region.

The department also stated that four individuals had been arrested in connection with this event.

“The investigation has revealed that the explosive-laden vehicle used in the deadly attack was prepared in Afghanistan and was subsequently transported to Dera Ismail Khan's Darazinda via the Pak-Afghan Chaman border crossing in Balochistan,” the report reads.

Political analysts said that the Pakistani government is incapable of securing the country and thus points fingers at Afghanistan.

'Pakistan might have said this for domestic consumption, but the important thing is whether the Chinese accept this narrative or not? The Chinese have currently halted their work in this region,” Tariq Farhadi, a political analyst, told TOLOnews.

A suicide bomber targeted a vehicle carrying Chinese engineers in the Shangla area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, resulted in the death of five Chinese engineers and their Pakistani driver last week.
